Synopsis: Between 1978 and 1980, artist David Stairs changed the design of his hair once a month, although the style remained the same: a closely-cropped blank slate upon which Stairs could experiment with multicolored stripes, dots, and shapes. The resulting "headrawings" are documented in sets of four passport-style photographs that appear in this collection for the first time. A companion piece to Stairs' "Automatic Ambiance," viewers can finally see what people once witnessed first-hand on the streets of Seattle, New York, Portland, Vancouver, Calgary, and San Francisco.
